RAW DESIRE
CORALEE LYNN ROSE, CURATOR

MediaMerge, New York's newest alternative emerging art association, is joining the Free Biennial to stimulate the public with an exhibition entitled Raw Desire. Organizers hope the public will expose themselves to this exhibit which bares all in an attempt to study and celebrate the common drives that link people.

Raw Desire is being curated by Coralee Lynn Rose, an artist and independent curator who rides the cutting edge in vital, contemporary art. Raw Desire is affiliated not only with the Free Biennial but also with Hunter College's open studios and is the latest permutation in Rose's quest to mate the concepts of the installation piece and the group exhibition. To realize Raw Desire, Rose will transform her studio space into an exhibition space and play host to nine emerging artists creating works by applying strong intimate experience of the viscera rather than more superficial treatment of the merely academic.

Raw Desire will address the following questions: How has the current cultural climate changed the methods and tactics necessary for intimate expression? Has the art making process changed in the current climate? Can valid work be created under inane pretensions? The answers to these questions and other unvarnished truths will be revealed at the Raw Desire exhibition!
