ABOUT THE ARTIST


Ellen Harvey lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She is a 1999 graduate of the Whitney Independent Study Program and was selected to take part in the PS1 Museum's National Studio Program last year. Recent exhibition include "Serial Number" at Gale Gates,"In/Site/Out" at Apex Art, "Strangers/Etrangers" at the PS1 Museum's Clocktower Gallery, "Screen" at Spencer Brownstone Gallery in New York and "First Person Singular" at the Seattle Art Museum, "Against the Wall" at the Institute of Contemprary Art in Philadelphia, "Hier ist Dort" at the Secession in Vienna, Austria and "North America" at the Kwangju Biennale in Korea. She has had two solo exhibitions with De Chiara Gallery: "Painting is a Low Tech Special Effect" and "I See Myself in You." Recent public art projects include "100 Free Portraits" and the "New York Beautification Project" which can be seen at www.NYBeautification.org.
