FREE BIENNIAL: PROJECTS: THE WHOLE STORY...
THE WHOLE STORY BEGINS BEFORE THE BEGINNING, ENDS AFTER THE END, AND EVERYBODY'S IN IT
MICHAEL CUNNINGHAM

I will write a short story in 30 parts, cut it into 30 pieces, and each day release a piece somewhere in the city. I'd like to illustrate both the range of story-telling -- the ways in which it's intended as a gift to anyone who wants it, a way of saying to strangers something I consider important -- and its limitations. Any story, even the greatest of them -- even Anna Karenin and Moby Dick -- are by definition fragments of a larger story, the whole story of the human race, much too large for any single person to tell. None of the 30 fragments to be released over the month of April could possibly be found by the same person; each will, like any story, be an enigmatic part of a whole we can never grasp.

I wish to emphasize that it'll be an original story, and I won't publish it anywhere else. It's a free story.
