ABOUT THE ARTIST

After graduating in 1979 with a degree in both art and math, Rene' Joseph reached troubled youths in the inner city by teaching at local schools and museums. One group effort culminated in a cooperatively designed and painted mural for Senator Wellstone's office. A matching grant from Arts Midwest brought the artist's work into the realm of public art.

ARTISTS STATEMENT

Though my project is not without a hint of angst, I believe in the positive.

The internet is at its best when it is used for the free sharing of useful information. By using rebus pictures, the coloring book is also a introduction to simple geometric symbols. Each picture-symbol relates to its corresponding number and is built on the previous image. Taken together, they combine to make a final image and the sequence of images become a story. A full description of the coloring book can be found on my web page.
