911
ANDREAS TROEGER

911 responds to September 11th in New York City by processing the media coverage of that day and its aftermath. Many New Yorkers experienced the events directly; most experienced them via their television sets. The media both captured and magnified the confusion and shock of that day, creating and relentlessly revisiting indelible images. 911 reflects how the media hype displays a distorted reality.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

RESUME

ARTISTS STATEMENT

My career is influenced by many different experiences that effect directly my work which is a conscious dispute with the authenticity of the image that is transformed into a critical realism which does not reset but questions the reality.

I use this documentary authenticity in regard of its visual quality as pure image and of its ideological context as message.

Image processing, using tools such as computers, internet, programming and video technology, is a means to express relationships between actual actions that effect the social and political life.
